Recently, the 3GPP plenary session was held in the United States. The 5G mobile communications technology (abbreviated as 5G) unified global standard was formally approved at the meeting, and the 5G independent networking function was officially frozen. This marked that 5G will enter the new stage of full-scale industrial sprint.
According to the 3GPP plan, the 5G standard is divided into NSA and SA (Standalone independent networking). Among them, 5GNSA networking is a transitional solution. The main goal is to increase the bandwidth in hotspots, there is no independent signaling plane, and the work is based on 4G base stations and core networks. The development of relative standards is faster.
After the first phase of SA's 5G standard was finalized, the second stage started R16 as a 5G standard and was completed in December 2019. By then, the entire 5G standard will be released, and the 5G handset will be launched in 2019.
We previously reported that many domestic smart phone manufacturers, including Huawei, OPPO, and vivo, are now focusing on the research and development of 5G related technologies and have begun to take shape. Not surprisingly, by the second half of 2019, there will be 5G commercial test terminals unveiled. Let's wait and see.
