According to previous exposures, the Kirin 980 processor was produced by TSMC. It is the world's first commercial 7nm process technology processing chip, with a maximum frequency of 2.8GHz. On the GPU side, the Kirin 980 will be equipped with a graphics processor independently developed by Huawei. It is said that its GPU capability can reach 1.5 times that of the Snapdragon 845 chip.
Although we know very little about the specifications of the Kirin 980, combined with the current known news, the 7nm chip is expected to reduce power consumption by 40% and chip area by 37% compared to the 10nm chip. Compared with the 16nm chip, the area can be reduced to 1/3 of the original, the power consumption is reduced by 60%, and the performance is improved by at least 30%.
It is reported that the Kirin 980 processor will be launched by Huawei's Mate 20 series launched in October this year. Yu Chengdong once said that the performance of this chip will be greatly improved, and will be far ahead of Xiaolong 845. What will happen to the Kirin 980 processor, let us wait and see.
